About festiwal

After 4 editions of ?Muzyka z Mózgu? festival we decided to change the name to emphasize the organizers? openness towards visual forms of modern art.
Then, in circle of our interests there are all forms of modern music, performance art, audio and video instalations, painting, photography and film.

Term ?modern music? is often used to call music rooted in classical music that gave birth to such trends as: dodecaphony, punctualism, microtonalism, sonorism, minimalism, in the next period ? graphic music, concrete music, electronic music, later called experimental. The head representatives of these genres are: Arnold Schönberg, Karlheinz Stockhausen, Charles Ives, Anton Webern, and also polish composers - Krzysztof Penderecki, Henryk M. Górecki or Bogusław Schaeffer.

Speaking of modern music in reference to our festival, we have in mind musical forms that derives from sources mentioned above, but also refer to such music genres as jazz, ethnic music or rock music.
Among representatives of these music genres there are such names as: John Coltrane, Eric Dolphy, Albert Ayler, Ornette Coleman, Krzysztof Komeda, Zbigniew Zeifert or Frank Zappa.

We are then interested in open forms of music, containing the elements of experiment, improvisation (as the highest form of composition), also forms co-created with visual disciplines of art.

Having in memory the words of professor Bogusław Shaeffer, one of the greatest modern polish composers, that ?the tradition has to be respected but we have to remember that we create tradition here and now?, as our purpose we declare to choose the artists in order to present author?s and innovative art, with respect of the most important achivements of the time that passed.

Everyone of us is perfect. You too.
It should not prevent us from meeting each other.
At work. At creative work.
There is a chance that participation may result with something more.
Creativity is not divided into art disciplines.
Music, text, performance, video, etc. intermingle ? without creating sharp borders.
And there is a chance that we?re all necessary for coming it into being.

maybe I exaggerate
